While not affected by altitude issues it does nonetheless provide a fun and challenging outing during the winter months.

    Although it is not technical, it is not to be underestimated. Blue skies can quickly give way to whiteout and blizzard conditions and many people have inadvertently become lost and needed rescue. There is no marked route visible in winter as the summer trail is buried beneath snow, ice and sastrugi. Our guides carry all necessary navigation and communication equipment to ensure your safe return.

    Your guide, Andrew Lock, is the only Australian and one of the few people in the world to have climbed all fourteen of the world's 8000 metre mountains. He knows the importance of succeeding on challenging objectives and will help you to achieve your dream of climbing the Seven Summits.

    Meet at 8.30am at the ValleyTerminal ticket office to distribute necessary equipment (snow shoes and ski poles), purchase lift tickets and then catch the chair lift up to the Eagles Nest terminal to the start our adventure.

    The last chairlift back down to Thredbo departs from the Eagles Nest terminal shortly after 4pm so our day is timed to have you back well before then.

  • Guiding fees are $450 (GST inclusive) per person (minimum 2 people). This includes your Snowshoes, Ski Poles and lift ticket for the day.

    Occassionally, Snowy Mountains weather can be severe and it may be appropriate to postpone or cancel the course. If the course is cancelled by Andrew Lock Adventures, all deposits will be fully refunded.

  • While you do not need to be an elite athlete to take part, the day is physical and you will be walking for up to 6 hours on snow shoes while carrying a light day pack containing your lunch, drinks, camera equipment and spare clothing (around 5kg). There is no age restriction but Andrew Lock Adventures reserves the right to decline participation to anyone who we feel may be at undue risk due to health or fitness issues.
