Keith Scott has been walking, skiing and climbing in the Snowy Mountains for more than 25 years. He is a member of Canberra Climbing Association and the New Zealand Alpine Club and rock climbs in the Brindabella Mountains near his home city of Canberra. He has climbed in the New Zealand Alps on numerous occasions and in the Himalayas, including on private mountaineering expeditions in 2010 to a previously unclimbed 6,500m peak in north-eastern Nepal, and in 2015 to Mera Peak and Baruntse (7162m).

Keith leads lodge-based and tent-based “Ten-Peaks” hikes in the Snowy Mountains as well as camping trips. He has an excellent knowledge of the mountains, including many “untravelled” areas on the western fall.

Keith was responsible for organising and overseeing (in conjunction with the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service) the clearing and re-opening of the Hannels Spur walking track on the western side of the Snowy Mountains. He brought together and managed a team of eight volunteers who worked to re-mark and clear the track over a two-year period in 2018 and 2019. As well as enjoying the outdoors in a private capacity and as a guide, Keith is an author and former newspaper journalist. He currently contributes to outdoor magazines and journals, including Wild magazine, Snowy Mountains Magazine, Lamont and the New Zealand Alpine Journal.
